The Census of Population and Dwellings is a fantastic source of information to help you understand demographic trends across Auckland – New Zealand’s largest city.

This website provides you with the tools to discover demographic trends and patterns across Auckland. Interactive maps and charts are provided at local board level and at Statistical Area 2 (SA2) level (these areas are approximately suburb sized).

Information, where available, is given for the 2006, 2013 and 2018 censuses.

A note on data sources and data quality

In response to issues with the 2018 Census, Stats NZ has, for the first time, used administrative and other data to help fill gaps caused by response rates that were lower than anticipated.
